Imphal City Flood DPR (India)
Jomiso prepared a comprehensive
Detailed Project Report (DPR) for flood mitigation and
drainage improvement in Imphal City, under the
National Hydrology Project. The project focused on
identifying critical drainage bottlenecks, understanding flood
propagation dynamics, and developing sustainable engineering and
nature-based solutions to reduce urban flood vulnerability.
The study combined hydrological, hydraulic, and geospatial
modelling to evaluate multiple flood scenarios and identify
high-risk areas. Innovative interventions such as the
Lamphelpat wetland diversion were proposed to enhance
stormwater retention capacity and restore natural hydrological balance
in the city’s floodplain.
This initiative, funded by the World Bank under the
National Hydrology Project, aimed to improve
urban flood resilience while promoting
eco-sensitive urban development and sustainable
infrastructure design for long-term climate adaptation.
Project Type: Flood Risk Mitigation & Urban Drainage DPR
