Chukha Dam Inflow Forecasting (Bhutan)

Jomiso developed an advanced Inflow Forecasting Model for the Chukha Dam — one of Bhutan’s major hydropower facilities. The system was designed to generate reliable inflow forecasts with a three-day lead time, significantly improving operational efficiency and flood preparedness.

The model combines real-time hydrometeorological data, climate forecasts, and catchment hydrology to predict reservoir inflows accurately. This forecasting capability was further integrated with a hydropower forecasting module to support optimized power generation planning and risk mitigation.

Implemented under a USAID-funded initiative, the Chukha project demonstrates Jomiso’s commitment to advancing data-driven water resource management and strengthening climate resilience in mountainous and transboundary river systems.
